Yes! Attending Reunion
Comments:

After graduation, I started college at the US Naval Academy. I lasted 2 years before transfering to Illinois Wesleyan University. While there, I saw that Greg Yount, Dee Willard, and Joe Zorn seemed to enjoy the campus bars (Dooleys/Kams/Murphys, etc.) in Champaign quite frequently and so in 1974 I started law school at the U of I.

During the college and law school summers I worked for Allied Van Lines. I also found myself following David Weaver, Steve Henderson, Ann Rust, Greg Yount, Sally Frank and others to the Red Lion and Fannies Trolley on the weekends. Sally didn't realize I was stalking her and we became very good friends. I think I proposed weekly for about two years before she began to take me serious. In March 1976, I asked her father for her hand in marriage (I was very nervous). He said "yes" immediately, but I think it took another 30 days to convince Sally.

After we were married (August 6, 1976-please tell Sally I remembered the date), we moved into our first apartment in Champaign for my final year of law school. I took a job with State Farm after graduation and worked for the company until I retired at the end of last year. My parents were initially sceptical about my retirement, but I reminded them that David Weaver retired right after he got married and it's seemed to work out fine for him.

During our 34 years together, Sally and I have raised 2 kids (both arrived 9 months after a toga party-hard to figure) and four dogs. Our daughter, Katie, married another BHS grad, Dalan Thornton, in October 2008. They have one child, Alexa, that those of you attending the reunion will get to hear lots about next weekend. Our son, Brian, promises he's in his final year of medical school (I hope Obama-care brings down the cost of doctors services, but not until after he's repaid his parents).

Sally and I have been very fortunate during our 34 years together, but there have been a few rough spots and we're working thru a challenging time right now. In May of 2009, Sally was diagnosed with cancer (the technical term for her disease is mucinuous adeno-carcinoma of unknown origin). She underwent chemo treatment from June-December of 2009 with the usual complications (severe nausea, tiredness, hair loss), and while she's not "cured" the treatment has helped considerably. In April of this year, Sally went thru 5 hours of surgery and then 2 hours of "hyper-thermic peritoneal chemotherapy (HIPC)." This treatment seems to have helped as well, but Sally's lost some weight and is finding it hard to regain her appetite. We'll be seeing her oncologist in Nashville, TN, again on 7/28 and hope to know more about what's ahead. Thru it all, she's remained upbeat and determined to recover. And she's especially looking forward to the Reunion.

See you all there.
