A great friend at school and church. We would sometimes go out on a double-date and Augie would have one-to-many beers ( I know, I found it hard to believe to). I found him one time sleeping on the hood of his car. At least he found his car. Augie loved to sing and was with the Bloomington Barbershoppers for 24 years. He played center on the BHS football team. Augie passed away on June 3, 2000. I sure miss Augie.
Part of Augie died during his 1971 car accident. He was never the same after the crash. He was fun loving and a good friend and a better sax player in band than me!
I didn’t get to know Augie until after high school. I answered an add in the Pantograph for a 1952 Dodge Wayfarer. It turned out that Greg had purchased the car from an Aunt and was selling it. I bought the car and owned it for a number of years. Greg would drop by the house from time to time to check on it. We'd talk about stuff...have a beer or two. If anyone didn’t like him it was on them, not him. Great guy! Sorry to learn he's gone, and glad I know him.
